Kolkata is the capital of the Indian state of West Bengal, on the eastern bank of the Hooghly River 80 km west of the border with Bangladesh. It's the primary business, marketable, and fiscal mecca of Eastern India and the main harborage of communication for North- East India.

- The Victoria Memorial: It is a large marble building on the Maidan in Central Kolkata, built between 1906 and 1921. It is dedicated to the memory of Queen Victoria, Empress of India from 1876 to 1901.
- The Howrah Bridge: It is a balanced stake ground over the Hooghly River in West Bengal. Commissioned in 1943, the ground was firstly named the New Howrah Bridge, because it replaced a pontoon ground at the same position linking the metropolises of Howrah and Kolkata.
